Ado has released “Patient A” (「患者A」) on October 24, her 24th birthday. The surprise digital single brings her together with Yoeko, a singer-songwriter Ado has cited as an influence. Yoeko wrote both the lyrics and music, contributed backing vocals, and Bin Sugawara arranged the recording.
For Yoeko, the collaboration extends a career first known under the name Yoeko Kurahashi (倉橋ヨエコ). After ending that chapter in 2008, the pianist and songwriter returned under her current name in 2023. Her writing now reaches a singer whose own career has brought internet-born Japanese vocal music to international listeners.
The video, illustrated by Tomo Kobone (小骨トモ) and produced by Cymo, casts a school-age version of Ado in a drama club where the boundary between events and perceptions becomes uncertain. In the official announcement, Ado says the character reflects her own identity. A song about playing an assigned role becomes a meeting between two generations of distinctive Japanese voices.
