TuneCore Japan is one of the services independent artists and labels in Japan can use to put their music on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and dozens of other platforms without going through a traditional record label.

Launched in 2012, it lets users keep their rights while distributing music to more than 55 services in over 185 countries. Fourteen years later, TuneCore Japan says cumulative payouts to artists have passed ¥100 billion.

The company says 140 artists have each received more than ¥100 million through the service, while its catalogue has passed two million distributed tracks. Overseas revenue now accounts for more than 20% of the total.

The figure has grown quickly: cumulative payouts stood at ¥39.3 billion in 2022 and ¥71.1 billion in 2024. In October 2026, they crossed ¥100 billion.
