Satoko Shibata (柴田聡子) has recorded a new cover of Morning Musume’s “I WISH” for BEAMS’ women’s campaign film, unveiled on October 8, 2026.
Originally released on September 6, 2000, “I WISH” was Morning Musume’s tenth single, written and composed by Tsunku. For the campaign, Shibata gives the song a new arrangement built around live instruments, trading the original’s youthful exuberance for a more understated, contemporary sound.
BEAMS frames the film around three women in their thirties taking different paths in life. The choice of a song first heard by many listeners in their teens gives the campaign a generational connection: a familiar pop anthem reinterpreted for the people who grew up with it.
The cover is featured in the campaign video; no separate commercial audio release has been confirmed.
